Rambouillet Forest

Description of the hike

Start Point: At the Huttopia campsite in Rambouillet, route de l’Etang d’Or. Park in the car park just before the campsite entrance on your right.

1. Leaving the car park take the cycle path in front of you which runs alongside the pond (on the left) and the campsite (on the right).

2. Arrive at the bridge, at the end of the pond do not cross it and continue straight on along the marked GR path (white and
Red).

3. At the fork turn right then immediately left at the crossroads and straight on until the D 27 (follow the GR).

4. At the road, opposite by the path then always straight on this path following the GR markings.

5. The path begins a right turn, then a left, then you arrive at an intersection. At this intersection
leave the GR and turn right then straight ahead until the 2nd crossroads that you will cross.

6. At the crossroads with forest plots 21.10 in front on the left and behind on the left and 21.15 behind on the right, turn right until you reach a large star crossroads with a signpost.

7. At the Bongard post, continue straight on along Route Bongard (3rd right) until the next large crossroads.

8. At the crossroads, 2nd left onto Chemin de Robert Joly (CR 22) then always straight on until the road.

9. At the road, cross it and take the path opposite (CR 22) until you come back to a road.

10. Once again on a road, turn right and walk alongside the national technical center of the French Federation
of Football on your left.

11. At the stop sign at the D 72, cross it and take the dead end opposite (chemin des Yvelines). 175 m further in the
downhill you pass a barrier.

12. At the end of the descent at the intersection with the CR 18 "chemin des Sables", turn left then straight on until the D 27 which you take on the left to the town hall.

13. Opposite the town hall, take “chemin de l'Essart” on the right, towards the village hall.

14. At the village hall, cross the bridge and take the path opposite “CR 7 from Clairefontaine to Loireux” which you continue straight on until you reach a road after a water tower. Be careful towards the end of the path, long and difficult climb over 500m.

15. At the road right on the PR (yellow) and GR (white and red).

16. In the big right bend, leave the road and continue straight through the forest on the CR 1 “chemin de St-Arnoult” without ever leaving it, always following the GR markings until you reach a road.

17. At the road turn right then immediately left on the cycle path. Soon you go along a fence on your right, this is the Espace Rambouillet Animal Park. You will cross a road, cross it and continue straight on the cycle path: you are back at the Etang d'or car park.
