From the narrow valley of the Vaux de Cernay, you come out into wider landscapes, between cultivated plains and the royal roads of the Rambouillet forest which allow great vistas.
Departure: on the D 91 at the level of the Vaux de Cernay waterfalls, park in the car park located near the restaurant “Le Chalet des Cascades”.
1. At the car park, the D 91 in front of you, take it to the left towards the place called “La Vallée”. Then at the crossroads just after the Salons Léopold turn right on the D 24 direction Auffargis.
2. 180m after turning right on the D 24, take the path on your left which climbs following the PNR markings (blue and white) up to an arrow post at the level of the D 91.
3. Arrived at the arrow post, turn right in the direction of the Abbaye des Vaux de Cernay and continue straight ahead on this marked path PNR. Towards the end of the path, you come to a fork, turn right on the marked PNR path, then you come out of the forest opposite a factory.
4. At the Tuilerie crossroads opposite the factory, turn first left following the direction of the Saint-Benoît circuit signposted PNR. Follow this path until the D 61.
5. At the D 61 turn right following the direction of St-Benoit. Take the road for 675 m then at the St-Benoit entrance sign, turn left on the wide path located between the houses and signposted PNR.
6. At the intersection at the end of the path, turn left and follow this marked stone path PNR to the D 906.
7. Arrival at the D 906 take it to the right for 325m. Then take the first left at the Grande Hogues sign towards the Hauts-Besnières house. Follow the Hauts-Besnières forest road to the arrow post of the same name.
8. At the post, take the direction of Route de la Vallée du Parc on your right, then at the next crossing with a PNR arrow post continue straight ahead until the next crossing.
9. At the second crossroads "Carrefour de Coigny" you are facing the forest plots 20.20 and 20.21 then turn left on the stony path, then always straight ahead until the next arrow post.
10. At the post of the Enclaves, turn left on the route du Fossé Broux signposted PNR until the next crossing.
11. At the crossroads, leave the PNR markings and turn right along a fence. At the end of the fence at a crossroads, turn left and continue along the fence, then straight on to the D 61.
12. At the D 61 turn left, then first right 150m at the PNR signpost towards Abbaye des Vaux de Cernay. Pass the barrier and climb through the woods following the PNR markings.
13. Arrived at the top, you are facing the Charmes farm, go straight ahead in the direction of the farm
by the grassy path, then go around it to the left until you reach a road. Take this road to the left at
across fields. Follow the PNR markup.
14. At the crossroads with another road, continue straight through the fields on the grassy path until you reach the D
906.
15. At the D 906 at the level of a PNR arrow post, turn right on the road then immediately left on the D
91 towards Dampierre.
16. Do not go down the D 91 and turn left at the wooden barrier to catch up with point 3. At the PNR signpost, turn right towards Etang de Cernay by the path you took on the outward journey. Be careful on the descent, it leads to a road.
17. At the bottom of the descent you arrive on the D 24 which you take to the right until the stop sign.
18. At the stop sign turn left on the D 91 you are back at the Chalet des Cascades car park.
