Ronqueux Wood

The wooded hillsides of the Ronqueux forest, which extends over 118 ha, overlook the Aulne valley. This steep forest offers a wide variety of natural environments. This forest is heavily frequented by large deer.

The wooded site of Ronqueux was acquired by the General Council of Yvelines in 1985. It covers an area of ​​117 ha located in the municipality of Bullion and is part of the Regional Natural Park (PNR) of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse. This site occupies the southern slope of a hillside overlooking the ru de l'Aulne and is bordered to the west by its tributary "the brook of the Pierre du Jeu". of oaks. In the lower parts of the forest, on alluvial deposits, appear open areas (including 2 ponds created in the 90s and meadows) and humid woods. The wetland is subject to conservation management to preserve or even restore certain biotopes. This wood has been subject to the forestry regime since 1986. It is listed in a natural area of ​​ecological, faunal and floristic interest (ZNIEFF)*. This
classification is due to the presence of humid habitats located in the lower part of the wood of Ronqueux.
Many plant species have been identified (212 in total) which are mainly concentrated in humid and open environments. There are 9 remarkable plants including 1 regional protected species: the Royal Fern (Osmunda regalis), a fern.
An ornithological inventory has identified 38 species of birds present on this site, mainly linked to wooded areas and wasteland.
Among these, 4 remarkable species appear: The black woodpecker, the nightingale philomela, the polyglot hypolais and the effarvate warbler.
