Cabinetmaker by trade for 35 years, trained in Decorative Arts and Fine Arts in Paris, Bruno Chaperon designs and produces knives and other objects in precious wood marquetry.
After having perfected and patented a curved assembly process, he notably developed a range of cutlery in partnership with OPINEL ©.
All in curves and roundness, each knife handle is distinguished by a unique and original marquetry pattern. Ethnic in inspiration, the result is surprisingly beautiful and takes us on a journey to the borders of the 5 continents where the woods come from.
Each knife made carries with it his passion for wood: under the bark of the logs chosen with care and mastery, he guesses and knows how to exalt the beauty of the veining, the grain of the wood, its color, its smell. Certain defects in the wood are a gift for him: they sometimes turn into improbable patterns in a knot, a magnifying glass, a burl.
Bruno Chaperon also works with other materials such as horn, deer antler, warthog tusk, vegetable ivory. He regularly collaborates with ironworkers.
Located in the Chevreuse Valley, in Saint Arnoult en Yvelines, Bruno Chaperon's workshop is a place of production exclusively. You can find his knives for direct sale at trade fairs and exhibitions, at points of sale and on his e-shop.
Bruno Chaperon is a member of Ateliers d'Art de France and the Association of Artisans of the Chevreuse Valley.
