The Aleu Park

Located in Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines, this communal park was once made up of a mansion and a watermill. It was laid out by a great architect Jean-Charles Adolphe Alphand, creator of many Parisian gardens.

We owe the development of the Parc de l'Aleu as we know it today to a certain Monsieur Sicre, a Parisian pharmacist, owner of the premises until 1934. He is at the origin of the planting of the oldest trees , exotic essences very often, as well as the digging of ditches in which he macerated ash leaves intended for the elaboration of potions. At the time the park was much bigger. In 1971, the town hall acquired more than 6 hectares for the symbolic franc. Today, the municipal park of Aleu extends over 7 m². It is managed by the green spaces department. The agents take care to preserve the place to make it a restful place for families, in total respect for the well-being of the fauna and flora, in particular excluding phytosanitary products. Improvements are also underway. Others will follow.

Strengthen the banks
To avoid the erosion of the banks, very specific plants based on rushes and irises have recently been put in place on certain arms of the Rémarde present in the park.

Preserving the biotope
To allow walkers to move around without difficulty while preserving the habitat and breeding ground of insects, reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals, mowing is not systematic. The fragile vegetation of the banks is preserved as well as some grassland areas inside the park allowing plants to flower, seed and become attractive to pollinating insects and birds in particular.

Refloating of the body of water
The discreet cofferdam of the body of water shows obvious signs of aging, making it less watertight. This explains its current low level. The municipality will therefore proceed with its change. Fishermen, fish, geese and ducks will thus find all their ease, to the point that the fording will again be in water. Wet feet guaranteed!
“Vegetation buoys” will also be planted at various locations along the shore.

new furniture
Sitting down and taking a break to contemplate nature or simply have a picnic will soon be made easier by the renewal of the furniture. Tables, chairs and benches will benefit from a refurbishment.

Renovated bridges
The two bridges spanning the Rémarde will have their floors changed and their ramps repainted.

It is not finished…
Soon, with the help of the two river wardens, a survey of the biodiversity of the Rémarde will be carried out. We will communicate the contents of this inventory to you.
