The departmental forest of Pinceloup / Saint-Benoit

The forest of Pinceloup / Saint Benoit, attached to the massif of Rambouillet, was part of a larger whole, the "forest of Yveline", before the clearings in the Middle Ages.

A little bit of history

The presence of wolves until the 18th century seems to be at the origin of the name of the Bois de Pinceloup and the pond "the wolf pit". The Departmental forest includes the Bois du Roi, the forest of Plants and the Bois de Pinceloup as well as the forest of Saint-Benoit.

This forest presents landscapes of pines and brooms, large forests on the plateau with a luminous undergrowth of ferns and clearings. Many ponds or ponds are home to exceptional fauna (nationally protected amphibians).

Many paths and trails run through the forest, including the majestic “Allée Verte”. A path accessible to accompanied people with reduced mobility allows you to discover the wolf pit 2 steps from the car park.
