During a walk along these channels, discover the origin of the waters of Versailles. During the construction of the fountains in the gardens of Versailles, Louis XIV called on many engineers to bring water in abundance to the Palace. A place 130km from Versailles will be exploited to satisfy King Louis XIV and make Versailles a "unique hydraulic work". Many techniques will be used throughout the region. Eventually, the Sun King traveled to Vieille-Eglise-en-Yvelines and diverted all the water points in his path, which formed the "royal river".
