More than a meter of water flooded the premises, damaging the ground floor of the museum (the couple's kitchen, Aragon's office and the large living room), the bookstore-boutique, the exhibition spaces, as well as some of the association's offices.
They are therefore asking for all support, whatever the amount, in order to preserve this wonderful legacy of Aragon and Elsa Triolet and to begin a new page in the history of the Villeneuve mill as quickly as possible.

In the heart of a 6-hectare park, the Villeneuve mill takes you into the intimacy of Elsa Triolet and Aragon. This mill from the end of the XNUMXth century was often the setting and source of inspiration for the couple's writings. It was there that some of the most beautiful pages of French literature were written.
This house of writers today affirms a triple vocation:
– Place of memory with the apartments and the tomb of the two writers;
– Place of research with a library of more than 30 volumes;
– Place of contemporary artistic creation.
Exhibitions (painting, sculpture, photography) as well as meetings and musical performances take place there all year round.
It was in 1951 that Aragon decided to offer Elsa the Russian, the uprooted, the foreigner “this little piece of land in France”: this mill established at the beginning of the XNUMXth century. Vestiges of the milling activity remain: the wheel cage is at the heart of the large living room, itself leaning against the reach. The couple's favorite objects and works by artist friends have remained intact, creating a warm and unique atmosphere.
The park of nearly 6 hectares invites you to a country getaway.
A walk through the meadows, woods and "tears" that follow one another, allows the visitor to discover the places that inspired Elsa and Aragon. Undergrowth with a humid, twilight atmosphere and dazzlingly naked meadows rub shoulders and intertwine. The authenticity of the park is reinforced by the presence of spontaneous vegetation.
The Maison Elsa Triolet – Aragon hosts a permanent collection of sculptures which is enriched each year with works by artists who are friends of the place.
Che staged tour will introduce you to some thirty works by contemporary artists.
Children's journey: pictograms to share, discuss, discover the works as a family.
Built between 1943 and 1946 during the fashion for dance halls, the ballroom with wooden floors and stained glass windows is listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments.
