Ludovic Louis - Jazz at any time

Long before touring the most beautiful stages in the world alongside international artists, Ludovic Louis began his career as a trumpet player in the heart of a family passionate about music.

After being rocked by a violinist grandfather in his spare time and a father awakening him to various musical colors, the child from Le Havre enrolled in Jazz studies. First at JUPO alongside Alain Loisel then at the music school with Sylvain Maillard, where he obtained his classical trumpet diploma in 2000.

By settling in Paris in 2003, Ludovic began to collaborate with artists such as Jimmy Cliff, Florent Pagny, or even more recently Slimane, Christophe Maé and Jérémy Frérot. It was in 2009 that he met Lenny Kravitz.

This meeting resulted in nearly 10 years of collaboration around the world and in the studio. From the biggest stadiums to the most cutting-edge festivals, such as Rock in Rio, Lollapalooza, the Montreux Jazz Festival, and many others, the trumpeter comes to electrify the crowd a little more with incredible improvised solos every evening. In 2012, in Las Vegas during the “Black and White America Tour”, he was lucky enough to be able to experience one of the most beautiful moments of his career on stage: playing his solo for the icons Muhammad Ali and Quincy Jones.

By settling in Los Angeles in 2013, the French artist continued collaborations with, among other renowned artists: Kanye West and his Sunday Service, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Robin Thicke, Curtis Harding, Patrice Rushen and The Meters.

In parallel with this and throughout his career, Ludovic participates as a musician in various television programs such as Dancing with the Stars where he is a member of the band, The Grammys, The American Music Awards,

In 2020, a new opportunity presented itself to Ludovic Louis and it was under the direction of Damien Chazelle that he made his debut as an actor in “The Eddy”. Through this Netflix series, the artist embodies the character of Ludo, trumpeter in a jazz club. We can also see him in an episode of the series “Mixed” on Amazon Prime.

In 2021, he found himself at the Capitol studio in Los Angeles, again with Damien Chazelle and his composer Justin Hurwitz to be able to lend his “sound” to actor Jovan Adepo who plays trumpeter Sydney Palmer in the film “Babylon”. Its “sound” will also be used by composer Guillaume Roussel in the series “Totem” on Amazon Prime.

In 2022, he was named by JazzMag magazine among the 3 French Jazz trumpeters of the year.

THE ALBUM - REBIRTH

All of Ludovic Louis' journeys and musical encounters ultimately led him to go solo. It is therefore after several years of work surrounded by his friends, that the trumpeter gives us his first album “Rebirth”, thus bringing together influences of soul, funk and even Caribbean music.

This album of 11 tracks, recorded between the United States and France, takes us on a journey with the opening and closing opus “Madinina”, a tribute to the island of Martinique where the trumpeter is from. “Missing You” is addressed directly to Ludovic’s family and tends to express to us the difficulty of estrangement as well as the sweet melancholy that results from it.

As for the song “Nothing But You”, its guitar gimmick carries us away with its fresh pop rhythm. Finally, it is in the festive and James Brown-like title: “Everybody” that we will have the pleasure of hearing Ludovic sing.
