Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions

The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions is located in Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines. This museum brings together the spiritual, artistic and material heritage of this small town in the south of Yvelines.

The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions of Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines is located in the old "Moulin Neuf", former property of the Rohan-Guménée family. It was on March 19, 1974 that Madame Lebon donated the Moulin Neuf to the town of St Arnoult, for the benefit of the Historical Society which created the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions there.

This museum invites you to discover the "little" history. During your visit you will thus be able to observe a fragile regional heritage that is often forgotten and swept away by current modernity.

During your visit, you will thus discover the "History" room which will make you relive the history of the town over the centuries from the Gallo-Roman era until today.
The “minerals” room contains an important collection of hard stones, various minerals and meteorites. In the "miller" room, you can see the remains of the wheel of the old mill. You will also discover a reconstruction of the interior of a habitat dating from the end of the XIXth century with an important exhibition of everyday objects: iron, lantern, doll, loom... The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions takes you in the daily rural life of the time.
