La Bergerie Nationale was built by Louis XVI. it is located in the heart of the national domain of Rambouillet.

The principle is simple: children receive an empty box of eggs and will have to fill it by going in search of hidden colored eggs, while discovering the animals on the farm with pleasure! A filled egg carton = a chocolate surprise!
Intended for all ages and a veritable interpretive trail of the agricultural world, the tour of the National Sheepfold allows you to explore the farm in an autonomous, fun and instructive way, to discover our historic site centered on sustainable development and agroecology. You will meet the animals and technicians of the farm
Come and discover the treasure of the National Sheepfold: the Merino de Rambouillet which arrived in 1786 and treat yourself to a breath of fresh air in the company of the animals on the farm! Sheep, cows, goats, horses, donkeys, rabbits, poultry... await your visit.
Every day it is open, attend the milking of the cows at 16:30 p.m. and the care of the animals from 17 p.m.
La Sheepfold shop offers “made in Bergerie” (meat, canned food, dairy products, flour, etc.) or local (drinks, vegetables, groceries, etc.) food products all year round, as well as souvenirs, toys and clothing. A space is reserved for woolen products and in particular the wool of our emblematic Merino sheep from Rambouillet.
The Mérinos Café offers a “coffee” service, snacks and snacks throughout the year.

Two years of work will have been necessary to revive this historical and natural heritage, a former arboretum under Louis XVI, and to create a place focused on “naturalist discoveries” around a barefoot course on the theme of mulching which crosses different spaces:
• A watercourse and its phytopurification zone,
• Areas cultivated with local species in organic farming and permaculture,
• Facilities and refuges to develop animal biodiversity,
• Woods with historical trees to explain their environmental impact,
• A green theater with cultural and artistic programming.
