Discover the presidential residence of Rambouillet as it was decorated in the 1950s, at the request of President Vincent Auriol (1947-1954).
Thanks to an exceptional partnership with Mobilier national, some of the furniture created by the greatest decorators of the time has been returned to its original frame. Six rooms have been reconstituted, including the "Salon Medici", the current marble room, as well as some of the suite rooms, accessible to the public for the first time. Provisionally, the office of President Auriol by Jacques Adnet is also reconstituted, making the exhibition a real event to evoke life at the Château de Rambouillet, a showcase of the decorative arts of post-war France, desired by the President for diplomatic purposes.
Curator: Gérald Rémy, inspector of the collections of furniture, ceramics and sculptures 1900-1964 at the Mobilier national, in coordination with the teams from the Center des monuments nationaux.
